Since this was a 2 pass encode deciding on the bitrate depended entirely on the quality of the video itself with the level of noise or grain within and tests done to see on how much bitrate is needed to retain the picture quality. \r\n\r\nLooking at the screens of these releases and knowing little of these films themselves I guess it mostly is using either a VHS recorder or tries to emulate that style which wouldn't be high quality video to begin with. You would be missing high detail so even though the video compression test might say it needs 15k or more bitrate to retain almost the exact quality of the source used you can lean more on \"DVD\" bitrates leaving towards 850-2k bitrate to retain the same quality but adjust for video size (1080p) to the 3k-4k range. Encoding isn't always an exact science but that is the baseline used with a majority of the team before doing further encoding test on multiple sections before deciding on what is needed for each individual video. \r\n\r\nHope that helps answer why.\r\n\r\n- Celdra","vip"]
